Tim --- A NOTE TO ACTORS WHO APPLY TO ANY CASTING CALLS: I can assure you that all applications are looked at and considered carefully. Unfortunately, I can only contact successful applicants as, due to the volume of applications, it would take far too long to thank you all individually. In the past, I have been asked what swings the balance so that someone can get called to audition. I can only answer in general terms. When there are lots of applicants to get through, the first question I ask is, "Can I imagine this person playing that character?" which obviously comes down to director's asthetic taste. This doesn't mean, however, that all those called to audition look similar - they usually don't. Secondly, from my point of view, it’s great to see professionally taken shots and a CV - this shows that you take your acting career seriously - but I find online clips and showreels are most valuable in telling me who may have the subtle qualities for screen acting that I am looking for. If you haven't yet been in any short films to make a showreel from, I'd suggest making something that shows you exactly as you want to be shown. Make it as simple as you like, but make it effective!
