Synopsis:
The scene opens on the cheerful and eager Steph preparing a surprise 6-month anniversary dinner for her boyfriend, Darren.
Darren is late but arrives home with a great excuse and a surprise gift for Steph - another woman...
The Inspiration:
Whilst watching one of my favourite Brit-flicks I noticed how a particular scene almost held it's own as a stand-alone short film. Another aspect that appealed to me about the scene was that it's course was turned-about by one character's entertaining "monologue".
I am aware of several mesmerising monologues in film and wanted to create one which wasn't simply exposition or for the sake of it, but served a purpose. I believe I have achieved this and am also happy to have created three characters, each with their own agenda.
The film is written under the concept that it's a pivotal scene taken from a full-length feature about the Darren character and his compulsion to fulfill every imaginable sexual adventure.
